Spread the love

Dear Isheeria’s Healing Circles Reader,

Welcome to my birthday carnival exploring the question –

Theme isheeria celebrations

Do I deserve to be happy?

Happiness is Your Birthright

Happiness is neither a fish that swims into your net, nor one you must cast out the sea to catch. It is the net and the pole itself.

Where is my analogy going? Besides on a road to give you a headache? My point is that happiness isn’t something we must catch, but rather the thing we already own. We all inherently were born with the capacity for happiness. Think of us as babes delivered to this world with a net and fishing pole in the stork bag we were dropped off with. Some never cast that line, thinking they are unworthy of whatever prize might bite, but nothing could be further from the truth. Happiness is your birthright. It is everyone’s birthright. And we all came prepared to catch it.

My father used to tell me that old cliché. “Happiness is an inside job.” However, that sounds like work, and for me it never quite fit, although I appreciate the sentiment. For me, happiness is a choice. Maybe we’re talking about semantics, but in my father’s motto it seemed like I had to be right with myself to achieve happiness. But there are so many obstacles to inner fulfillment. It doesn’t come and stay, like a wolf finding a pack. No, inner fulfillment is a fleeting job that somedays we master and other days we find ourselves too far from achieving. However, happiness is a different story, and I wouldn’t relate it completely to inner fulfillment. Those are two separate beasts and one I can tackle, and the other continues to tackle me.

If I truly think of happiness as a choice, rather than a job then it is an obtainable goal. By making it a constant decision, it becomes easy. It means that no matter what happens to me, that the end result is happiness. And here’s the only tidbit of wisdom I’m supposing to offer here. Happiness means that no matter what, at the end of it all, we choose that state of being. So you have a bad day, still smile. So your boyfriend makes you mad, still smile. So you fail, smile brighter. Because you can’t be sad because the world hurt you. Instead you must be happy, because it’s a choice. Every day we are waking up to a world of our own possibilities. Put the choice in your own hands and you have control. Put it elsewhere and you have none.

So tomorrow, I will meditate, eat right, practice yoga and work towards my daily inner fulfillment. Today, I’m happy because it’s another day where I’m choosing. Every day I choose, I choose happiness.

I was first introduced to Sarah in a Reading Marathon, where she was hosting the Reverian Series – the story telling and her conversations all bowled me over! She is now one of my favorite authors, a must read on 1st day of book release kind of writers!

The 1st message i sent to her personally was – ” I hate you! you did …….. “(an unexpected twist in the story which twisted my gut into knots!) – offcourse, i have apologized since 🙂

A big Thanks to Sarah for agreeing to participate on my birthday celebrations with such an interesting contribution!

I LOVE her writing and books! Check out any of her book series, & you too shall get hooked on!

Cheers,
I
