Girls with Dreams become Women with Vision! #WomensDay #isheeria #BlogRendezvous #inspire Click To Tweet

In the world today, when so much progress has been made in all areas of Life and Society, the One domain which is still lagging behind is Education, and especially, the Education of Girls and Women.

Did you know?

More than 130 million girls are out of school!

In many countries, especially, the third world, Girls Education is still considered to be optional or not a requirement at all. Girls have the choices of limited information and yet, in this NEW & BRAVE World, they still have Dreams and Vision.

The Story of Malala Yousafzai is so well known to us all, and such an inspiration!

A Little Girl can Change the world, and Malala Yousafzai is a wonderful example of someone who kept going, despite threats to her life, and even being shot by the Taliban. She has won the 2014 Nobel Peace Prize at the age of 17.

Her story begins in July 1997, when she was born in Pakistan to parents Ziauddin and Toor Pekai Yousafzai. She was named after Malalai, a Pashtun heroine. Her father, an educator, instilled the love of learning in her and brought her up as an equal (#PushforProgress started way back for her)!

Sadly, in 2007-08 the Taliban militants took control of the Swat Valley and banned many things, including girl’s education, television and music!

Using the pen name “Gul Makai” to protect her identity, Malala blogged for the BBC about life under the Taliban. This was read by the New York Times, which then made a short documentary about Malala and Ziauddin’s life and their fight to protect girls’ education in Swat.

HE NAMED ME MALALA, a documentary by Academy-Award winning director Davis Guggenheim was released in 2015 and brought Malala’s story to audiences in 175 countries and 11 languages.

She has since spoken at the United Nations, set up the Malala Fund, met and carried the message of Girl’s Education & Equality around the world. She opening a secondary school for Syrian refugee girls in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley on her 18th birthday.

She has also launched a campaign encouraging people around the world to support education for #YesAllGirls.

The U.N. has declared July 12th “Malala Day” — and Malala promises to dedicate this day each year to shining a spotlight on the world’s most vulnerable girls.

Malala is currently enrolled at the University of Oxford, where she is studying philosophy, politics and economics at Lady Margaret Hall. She is balancing her school work and social life with leading the fight for girls’ education around the world — but she is not fighting alone.

Do we pause and ponder – look around at all the little girls growing up and the dreams in their eyes.

This International Women’s Day, Let’s take a pledge to support – through our words and actions every girl’s dream.

Happy Internation Women’s Day!
