Welcome to the Book Review of Men and Dreams in the Dhauladhar by Kochery C. Shibu
Men and Dreams in the Dhauladhar is available in paperback and kindle version on Amazon.in and on Flipkart.com here.
The Story is about three characters, Nanda, Khusru and Rekha and a lot of other assorted characters who have come together to set up a Hydro Project in the Dhauladhar.
All three have a past, all are running away from something and running towards what they think they seek. The narrative takes us through their stories and that of the Hydro plant and the mountains – these two too had character and added to the story with their uniqueness.
My Review:
Any book which is about the mountains makes it to my wish list! always! and, always, I find that I relish reading it!
I dream of living in the mountains, and this story is so real as it introduces you to the experiences and challenges of living a real life in the mountains, and by the end, makes one also reflect on why we move where we do, and do what we do – ultimately, where is it that we want to go! what is the destination which our heart desires?
In the end, the book left be in a bit of reflective mode and with the urge to go take a walk in the mountains [sce emoji=”skipping”/]
This is a good read for someone who likes knowing the back stories and understanding how a person arrives at the point that they do. Also, if you are someone who likes to get into the depth of somethings, you will like how well-detailed a lot of the work aspects are in this book – it was interesting to learn about a profession so far removed from my own, and begin to appreciate about the dam/ setting up of a hydro-electric dam, and too in the mountains.
I also enjoyed the snippets and reference to the different cultures, and especially those of south India and the mountains.
About the Book Cover: The cover is what attracted me to the book – I love the simplicity and the hues of the cover. The Paper quality of the book is excellent, thus making reading this book a tactile experience 🙂

This isn’t my preferred genre but the book looks interesting. Thanks for the review!
I love reading back stories and their actions in the present, they are like fantasy for me! Seems an interesting book with the backdrop of mountains.
I like books that develop a character slowly and leave us in a reflective mode long after we’ve turned the last page. I think I must read this one.
