Spread the love

Dear Isheeria’s Healing Circles Readers,

Here’s a quick note about today’s Eclipse —

The full moon of 31st. January is a very special and auspicious one. It is special as it is a rare phenomenon and will be visible in most parts of the world, and it is a combination of a Super Moon (it will be at the closest point to Earth and hence appear 14% larger and 30% brighter), Blue Moon (the second Full Moon in a month), and a Lunar eclipse. The last time we had a Lunar Eclipse and a Blue Moon together was over 150 years ago, in 1866. This phenomenon will be visible between 17:56—20:41. In India it will be clearly visible between 19:07—20:41.

According to the Vedic calendar 31st. January 31, 20188 is Magha Purnima, which is considered as one of the most auspicious days of the year. It is the last day of taking a bath in Prayag (Allahabad) at Triveni (where the 3 rivers meet- Sangam).
This is a day when it is believed that after having a bath in the Sangam River if you make donations to a poor, needy person and to a Brahmin you will remove the obstacles in your path. (Donate black sesame seeds along with whatever you choose to donate).  Studying the Vedas on the banks of the holy river is very auspicious.

Reciting the Gayatri Mantra is considered very auspicious, as is the Chandra Mantra, and the Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra.

It is believed that the Gods come to Prayag to take a dip in Prayag on Magha Purnima day.

Fasting on this day is considered very auspicious.  Propitiating the Sun by offering water and chanting the Surya Mantra, and  Praying to Lord Madhav, Lord Vishnu brings wealth, happiness, prosperity, luck and salvation.

Tarpan for the ancestors is also performed.

If doing a  Havan Black Sesame Seeds should be used.

Put Tulsi (Holy Basil) leaves in the water, milk, curd, and the cooked food.

Share with us your experience of the day.

Blessed Be!
