Happy Birthday Maestro Michelangelo – 6th March 1475
A painter, Architect, Poet & Sculptor – Michelangelo is perhaps the most famous artist of Italian Renaissance. His works so famous that even those who are not interested in art, who may not know the name of the works, but will recognize the work for what it is – significant in its originality and brilliance!
“Genius is eternal patience. ” – Michelangelo
He was the first artist to be recognized & have a biography published during his life time. His works include the “David” and “Pietà” statues and the ceiling paintings of Rome’s Sistine Chapel, including the “Last Judgment.”
The most fascinating of his works for me, is the fresco (mural painting technique) he did of the scenes of from Genesis on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel (Vatican).
It took Michelangelo 4 years, lying on his back, to complete this artistic masterpiece. The Grand fresco has over 300 figures over 500 square meters of ceiling!
Dedicated, me thinks!
“If people knew how hard I had to work to gain my mastery, it would not seem so wonderful at all. ”
– Michelangelo
I am grateful to http://www.michelangelo.org/ to be able to share the Sistine Chapel Panoramas View (please click to full screen for the WOW effect!).
Until you and I can visit and see this wonder of Artistry with our own eyes, come, let us enjoy the view via technology!

Happy Birthday Michelangelo, the Eternal philosopher, whose insight made him the creative genius who lit the way for countless artists since.
“The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark. ”
– Michelangelo
