Lately as you may have noticed I have been quite taken in by regional cinema, and thanks to ZEE5.com, I have been able to watch a lot of different movies and serials.

The Storyline:
DANNY, written and directed by LC Santhanamoorthy is a complex and disturbing murder mystery. The investigations take turns that would leave you also second guessing where you thought the plot was going!
The storyline is intriguing, and After the police inspector Kunthavai picks up a complex murder case for investigation, she takes the help of Danny, a smart police dog, to unearth a gang of dangerous criminals involved in serial killing.
This movie is LC Santhanamoorthy directorial debut – and honestly, given how tightly the movie is made, I would not have guessed this at all! Overall, an excellent debut!
The Cast:
The movie stars Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu, Vela Ramamoorthy, and Vinoth Kishan.
Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, who made her debut in 2012 and has
done many movies in Tamil, Malayalam and Kannada.
She is a seasoned actress who, while playing the role of a strong and gritty
cop for the first time, has done complete justice to it as she brings depth and
nuances to this character which really grounds you in the reality of this plot.
Yogi Babu is a Tamil Actor and Comedian.
What is a comedian doing in a murder investigation? You will have to watch this
movie to know more about his role.
No movie (especially our Indian drama movies) is complete without the heartthrob factor! This movie has that in the actor Vinoth Kishan! That charming smile takes you back to your college days of crushes!
The Language:
The movie is in Tamil and has subtitles in your preferred language and a musical score and acting prowess that make it very easy to understand and follow along. The moments of mystery have you on your seat’s edge and wondering what’s next!
My Review:
I seriously enjoy women-oriented movies, throw in an adorable dog, and you have me for an audience!
When the trailer released, there was a lot of interest around the movie, and rightly so!
The Movie has tackled a very serious topic of gruesome crimes against women and the labyrinth of crime.
I really enjoyed how the mystery unfolded and connected the dots and never lost sight of the plot. While the investigation itself and the final outcome does give you some satisfaction, this movie definitely is a good look at the very reasons why such crimes take place and why criminals exist. Of Course, it may not be the complete story, but it is definitely a slice of the roots of this issue.
A very important message indeed – As women, we cannot ignore the threat, nor allow ourselves to become victims!
This movie shows the ease with which women are made into targets, and perhaps, while we wait for the world to change and become a better place, it is wise to become cautious and take care of ourselves and our fellow sisters (and brothers)!!!
The STAR: DANNY
Danny is an adorable Labrador who does all the leg work in this investigation! It is safe to say that he is one who really solves the mystery and helps catch the culprits.
Being from a family that has always had dogs as pets, as members in the family, I need no convincing on how wonderful and intelligent Dogs are!
This movie is a good portrayal of their intelligence, tenacity and loyalty! And who can avoid those adorable moments when the dog is simply, womans’ (and mans’) best friend 😊
Overall, I recommend that you watch this movie. Yes, it will disturb you, it will make you ask questions, and ultimately it will give you the answers and restore your hope in the investigative zeal of cops and dogs, who work together tirelessly to bring justice!

I too love women oriented movies but I think language creates a barrier sometimes! I get so indulged in reading the subtitles that I forget to enjoy the movie
Ohh, at the end I surprised to see who is Danny. For him I would like to watch movie despite of subtitle. I am maharashtrian but always love to watch south Indian movie.
Wow.. I am loving the plot already. I know such stories could be intimidating but it leaves you with a lot to ponder, stay alert and eventually improve you as a responsible citizen.
This movie sounds interesting. So Danny the dog is the real hero here and I agree I also like women centric movies let’s give more power to women. Will recommend this to my friends as well. Thanks for the review.

Now this is interesting… a dog helping solve cases and a women taking a lead role… this is absolutely worth watching.
Totally agree with you dogs are one of the most loyal breeds to human kind, I love criminal case solving movies and series , This is definitely going to be the next one I watch.

Zee5 never let down their viewer, it is full of entertainment . I have taken subscription but still need to watch danny. I will watch it today, it seems interesting.

Mystery is my favourite genre. The plot sounds intriguing and crisp, and performance by the cast in series is so entertaining. indeed a binge watch this weekend.

I haven’t watched a dog movie from Indian cinema in a long time. Also, I haven’t watched any Tamil movies yet, I think will start with this one. Adding Danny to my list now.
