Welcome to A to Z of Healing with Isheeria’s Healing Circles.
[Y] is for YOGA
Healing the Body is very important – and I do believe, Prevention is better than suffering through pain and dis-ease. But we don’t always have fair warning – so for over all wellness, it’s a great idea to make Yoga a part of your Life!
India has Yoga, one of the kindest forms of exercise – which strengthens, increases flexibility and stamina, and helps bring the body and all bodily systems into balance.
What takes it beyond just the physical is, as Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar says,
“Yoga is not just exercise and asanas. It is the emotional integration and spiritual elevation with a touch of mystic element, which gives you a glimpse of something beyond all imagination.”
Yoga has been around for centuries, and finds mention in our scriptures too. The beauty of this form is that it is not bound or limited by the age or physical health of the practitioner – You can start at any time, according to the needs and ability (and agility) of your body – even the speed of doing an asana is in your hands, and in time you will find your body changing, your postures improving and increase in strength, stamina and peace of mind (thanks to the breathing exercises which are a part of Yoga)!
There are ample of teachers in all cities globally, and today thanks to technology, you can even find videos, apps and complete websites dedicated to teaching you Yoga. There are individual classes and group classes – so you can choose whichever you are most comfortable with.
I hope you will consider finding a teacher and learning this form of healing yourself.
There are specific group of asanas for specific Health reasons, and people have found them to be helpful, especially, as Yoga can be added to compliment almost every treatment one may be undergoing (please consult a certified teacher for guidance).

The most complete asana to incorporate into your life is: The Surya Namaskar (Salutation to the Sun) – It works on your complete body, breath control, is a meditation in movement. You will begin to see the health benefits within days of beginning this practice.

each of the 12 asanas/ poses in the Surya Namaskar, also has a beej mantra.
When one fine winter morning I could not get up, as my lower back would just not straighten – I panicked! And this became a bit of a routine on particularly cold mornings – A yoga instructor early morning came to my rescue! He taught me asanas to strengthen my back, and quickly warm up my body – for years now, I am grateful to my Yoga teacher and Yoga asanas – without medication or pain, I have got my movement, flexibility and most importantly straight back, back! Trust me, hunch-back is not pretty, and living with pain, isn’t a way to be, not when we can help it.
Over and over, I have found for the littlest of pains and discomforts also, my Yoga practice has been very helpful.
Please remember, if there is pain, then you are doing something incorrect – Stop! Please take the help & guidance of a certified Yoga Teacher/Trainer.
Blessed Be!
