[W] is for Water Therapy
The theme for my AtoZ has been Healing, and one of the most readily available therapies of Healing our bodies is Water.
We all ‘Know’ that we must drink water, but, most of us forget to include it as a part of our daily routines – part of out lifestyle.
The Human body is made up of 70% water,
& the Brain is almost 90% water.
Any imbalance in the water levels in our bodies impacts our good health and well-being.
The quantity of water depends on one’s body weight. So, for a person weighing 60 kgs, the amount of water required per day is 3.5 Litres. (You can use this ration to calculate how much water you need).
Here are some quick Tips on when and how water should be consumed –
- 300 ml of water should be taken immediately after one gets up from bed.
- 300 ml should be taken half an hour before breakfast.
- Around 300 ml of water should be taken one hour before lunch and one hour before dinner
- Do not have water during or immediately after a meal (A minimum gap of 2.5 hours is necessary).
- After 2.5 hours of Lunch, & after 2.5 hours of dinner, another 300 ml of water should be consumed.
Drink the balance water as per requirement. Or use a reminder alarm or app even, to remind you to drink water at regular intervals.
Water can be part of your Spiritual Practices too! You can use images of water in your meditations.
This is especially helpful when you feel stuck or lost, or struggling to make decision in your life, and being in the low of Life.
Do Meditation on Water imagery (any image of your choice, which you like, there are a whole horde available online, or imagine it in your mind’s eye) for 7 days, and at the end of the meditation time, have a pen and paper handy to jot down what you saw, felt and experienced.
Some suggestions of images you can use on different days (in any order of preference) –
A serene lake
A sparkling ocean
A flowing river
A gentle rain
A tropical waterfall
When you meditate with these images, use all your senses – Hear the sound (in your inner ear), feel the water lapping at your feet, feel the wind upon your face. Experience being in that image.
And finally, bring some playing in water into your Life, have FUN – The best therapy of them all!
